Scope & Sequence

Our stand-alone lesson plans with flexible scope & sequence are the perfect resource for Tier 1, 2 and 3 instruction and intervention.

Our framework of well-being is based on several educational theories and reflects a synthesized approach to what we know about the conditions needed for educators and students to do their best work, the well-being competencies that educators and students must acquire through multi-tiered systems of support, and the culminating celebrations of educators and students thriving in any given system.

GRADE LEVEL SAMPLES

Our PreK-12 student curriculum was written by teachers, administrators, and service providers. Aligned with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, our student curriculum helps students acquire the knowledge, skills, and dispositions for physical, social, emotional, mental, and academic well-being.

Our standards-based lessons include hands-on activities, topic- based reflection prompts, engaging discussions, interactive graphic organizers, and integrated deep learning opportunities for all students.

In today’s world, the opportunities to partner with parents are needed more than ever! Our parent curriculum supports the adults in your students’ lives to do just that. The purpose of our curriculum is to:

  1. Provide transparency to the curriculum and increase trust.
  2. Partner with parents in teaching well-being skills and competencies.
  3. Provide resources to parents to improve their own well-being.
  4. Extend the learning into the home environment, supporting parents in their important role.

Casel Alignment

Our comprehensive curriculum is research-based, and CASEL aligned. The In Focus PreK–12 curriculum provides lessons and instruction completely aligned with the five CASEL competencies areas (Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Responsible Decision Making, Relationship Skills and Social Awareness). Our assessment reflection prompts are based on the CASEL competencies and sub-domain skills.

As advocated by CASEL, our K–12 student curriculum is universal for all students and should be used for Tier 1, 2, and 3 instruction. Additionally, the curriculum can be delivered during the school day or with after-school clubs or groups.

The In Focus PreK-12 curriculum features

  • free-standing lessons specifically and explicitly designed to enhance students’ social and emotional competencies
  • teaching practices designed to create optimal conditions for the development of social and emotional competence
  • strategies that promote reflection by students and build positive and supportive relationships among teachers, students, and families
  • Lessons that integrate SEL and academic instruction
  • organizational strategies designed to create systemic structures and a schoolwide culture conducive to learning.

In focus REFLECTION APP

The In Focus reflection APP provides an online platform for students and teachers to reflect and respond to topic specific prompts.

Aligned with our scope and sequence, each lesson/topic has 4-5 prompts ranging from multiple choice, scale, and open-ended questions. Teachers and administrators can also customize and add context specific prompts and questions.

Student responses provide real time data for teachers and service providers. Teacher responses provide real time data for administrators. Data is collected and used as pre/post assessments that inform instruction as well as provide longitudinal data regarding student and teacher well-being.
