Our character is shaped by our values and beliefs. We can develop positive character traits over time by consistently behaving in a way that exemplifies the character traits that we believe in most.
Gratitude has been linked to happiness and satisfaction with life. Being purposefully grateful helps us through hardships, helps us form connections to others, rewires our brains, and creates positive feelings. We can practice gratitude by pausing to appreciate goodness, writing notes, and serving others.
Good citizenship is more than just being a member of a community; it also includes supporting and serving in order to make a difference. We are citizens of a state, nation, and global community, filled with various rights and responsibilities. One important responsibility is to treat others with respect and civility. In other words, we should be polite and courteous through our actions and words. Making a difference can change lives, including our own.
