Healthy relationships are built using good communication skills: speaking clearly, taking turns, and listening without distractions. Kids should know that they can always share their thoughts and feelings with trusted adults. Communicating helps us understand and empathize with one another. We can better understand the feelings of others by asking questions and considering how we might feel if we were in their situation.
Sometimes it is hard to understand others because their background is so different from our own. Diversity and differences are beautiful and should be celebrated. We should always use kind words and respectful language when we speak to and about others.
Figuring out how to work together can be challenging for kids. Good collaboration requires active listening and compromise. It is okay to disagree, but we should always speak kindly. Working together can make hard work easier and more fun.
